World Moo Duk Kwan
Springfield, New Jersey

On November 9, 1945 the late Grandmaster Hwang Kee founded the Moo Duk Kwan in Yongsan-ku in Korea. The art that he originally established was called Hwa Soo Do. In 1947 it was reformulated and became known as Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan. A further evolution took place in the 1980s with the introduction of new material at which time it was again renamed Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan to better reflect its Korean heritage.

Beaudoin Academy of Karate
Waterbury, Connecticut

The Academy was founded by Grandmaster Robert Beaudoin in 1965 following the completion of his military service with the Air Force and his moving to Connecticut from Roswell, New Mexico. Grandmaster Beaudoin was a student of Grandmaster J. C. Shin, a relationship which also lasted 50 years, from 1962, when he began Tang Soo Do training at Osan Air base in Korea until 2012, the year of Grandmaster Shin's passing.
 


Grandmaster Michael March
Mike March's Korean Karate, Portage, Michigan

Grandmaster March, 8th Dan, began Tang Soo Do in 1965 with Grandmaster David J. Praim. He was one of the nation's best fighters in the '70s and early '80s as a member of the elite Karate Institute Competition and Demonstration Team. He personally trained with the late Great Grandmaster Hwang Kee, the Founder of Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan and was promoted to 4th Dan by him in 1976. He also started the first Korean Karate class for college credit in Michigan at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI.

Grandmaster Darryl Khalid
Khalid's Martial Arts, Glendale, Arizona

Grandmaster Darryl D. Khalid began his martial arts training in Korea in 1970 while stationed at Osan Air Force Base in Korea. His instructor was Grandmaster Chun Sik Kim. As a former member of the World Tang Soo Do Association, he served as the chairperson of the self defense committee developing new techniques for instructor training. In 1997 he formed the Universal Tang Soo Do Alliance and currently serves as its president. In 2010 he was inducted into the World Black Belt Hall or Fame. He was awarded his 9th Dan in March 2014 by his current instructor, Grandmaster Andy Ah Po.

West Haven Academy of Karate
West Haven, Connecticut

The West Haven Academy of Karate, Inc., is the oldest full-time martial arts institution serving the Southern Connecticut area. It was established in 1975 by Grandmaster Charles Ferraro, founder of the Tang Soo Do Mi Guk Kwan Association.
 


Master Ricardo Longinotti
Dojang Anchorena, Buenos Aires, Argentina

Master Longinotti, 8th Dan, was thirteen when he began his Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan training in Buenos Aires, Argentina. His teachers were all students of the late founder of Tang Soo Do, Grandmaster Hwang Kee. He received his 1st Dan (#22616) in 1982 from Master Gustavo Poletti. A current student of Grandmaster Charles Ferraro he was appointed in 2010 as Coordinator for Tang Soo Do Mi Guk Kwan in South America, and in January of 2015 was appointed to the organization's Technical Advisory Committee.
