Grandmaster Michael Romines has almost 50 years
experience in the martial arts having started in
1963 studying Judo and Shotokan in the Michigan
area. He studied under Sensi Bill Armstrong, Master
Ushida and two-time world champion Professor John
McCray, eventually receiving his first Dan in both
arts.
Grandmaster Romines began his study of Tang Soo Do
in 1965. He has studied with C.I. Kim, H. Murphy,
J. Klinfelt and Great Grandmaster Hwang Kee just to
name a few. Grandmaster Romines is honored to have
as his current instructor Grandmaster William
Clingan. He has studied with Grandmaster Clingan
since 1985 and received his 8th Dan in
December 2006 and his Grandmaster Certification from
him in December 2008.
Over
the years Grandmaster Romines has held membership in
the USKA, the U.S. Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan
Federation and the World Tang Soo Do Association.
He held the positions of Regional Director,
Technical Advisory Chairman and Director of 1988
World Championship within the World Tang Soo Do
Association before resigning to continue his studies
with Grandmaster Clingan in his organization.
Grandmaster Romines has also had the opportunity to
briefly study Aikido, as well as Arnis under
Grandmaster Remy Presas. He did not achieve rank in
either of these styles. He also studied Tae Kwon Do
for many years and was awarded the rank of 5th
Dan. It was Grandmaster Romines' great honor to have
studied briefly with Grandmaster General Choi Hong
Hi.
Grandmaster Romines continues to study and teach the
art of Tang Soo Do. |
