It is with a very heavy heart that I send out this notice. It has been reported to me that Sa Bom Nim Peter Krause has passed away after a long fight with brain cancer. Peter passed away March 9, 2016 at 1:30 pm.

Peter began his training with me when he was 12 years old in our Clinton Branch. He became one of Tang Soo Do's most prolific competitors competing locally, regionally and nationally. Peter was a member of gold / silver medal national sparring teams. He taught in both the Madison and Guilford branches of the West Haven Academy of Karate before eventually taking over the ownership of the Guilford Branch when it was located in the historic Griswold Building at downtown Guilford. Master Krause taught many students bringing many of them to Dan level and some to Master Level. I believe his first master level student was Sa Bom Nim Jonah Barasz. He has worked with Sa Bom Nim Jeff Talavera, Sa Bom Nim Bill Conforte, Sa Bom Nim James Davidson, Sa Bom Nim Gail Davidson, Sa Bom Nim Mike (Doc) Murphy, Sa Bom Nim Noelle Talmon, Sa Bom Nim Sid Werthin, Sa Bom Nim Dylan Lee and Sa Bom Nim Denise Lee,. Master Krause has left in indelible mark on all that he touched.

Master Krause always felt a calling to serve and while it was a difficult decision to give up the Tang Soo Do school where he taught he decided to become a police officer and he joined the New Haven Police Department where he worked until he became too sick to walk the beat at Wooster Square in New Haven where he was affectionately referred to as the "Karate Cop". Determined to continue to contribute to his beloved police department he took an inside desk job until he couldn't do it any longer. Master Krause had a determined spirit and he fought the good fight for many years before the good Lord saw fit to call him home. Many of us will never forget Master Krause's famous self-defense and board breaking demonstrations. He also had a tremendous sense of humor that he always had on display.

Sa Bom Nim Krause lived with his wife Sherry. He had one daughter Shanaya. He leaves behind his Mother and his brother Michael.

In loving memory,

Kwan Jhang Nim Charles Ferraro
