Amsterdam Open International Tang Soo Do Event

It was a great International Tang Soo Do Event
with competitors from Wales, England, Greece,
Belgium, USA and of course Holland. The event was
held at a special location in the Basement of de
Valk Hotel, Haarlem Zuid, located close to Airport
Schiphol and Amsterdam. This was a fantastic hall
with pillars, which gave the hall the special
atmosphere.
The weekend was hosted by the ATO (All Tangsoodo
Organization) and the UTC (United Tang Soo Do
Congress). Special guest was Kwan Jang Nim Richard
Byrne, head of the ATA (American Tang Soo Do
Association) and the UTC.
On Saturday the Championships were held in nine
rings. The divisions were in Sparring, Breaking, Hyungs and Weapon Hyungs. You could see some exiting
competitions between the different competitors.
About 280 competitors fought in the various
competitions.
On Sunday the day began early with a Chi Kong
Seminar taught by Master Bert van Lith. He taught
Chi Kong warming-up, breathing, tapping and massage.
This was a nice way to start the day. After half an
hour Kwan Jang Nim Byrne took over and taught a
Sparring / Self-defense seminar. We did some Wing
Chun related techniques, fast at a short distance
and also different fast punching and kicking
reaction sets.

It was great to be with old and new friends.
Great to be a weekend with so many people
with the same passion. The
ATO wants to thank everyone for their
support and contribution to the Amsterdam
International Tang Soo Do event.
A special word of thanks to Grandmaster
Richard Byrne for
his presence and fascinating seminar on
Sunday. The ATO received many enthusiastic
reactions. Thanks again to everyone who has
contributed. Hope to meet everybody
again in March at the World championship
2012 in Boston.
