Atlantic-Pacific Tang Soo Do Federation – 375 people gathered for the first ever APTSDF New England Regional Championships held at Kennedy Middle School in Plantsville, Connecticut. The event being hosted by Sa Bom Nim Steve Fernandez, Sa Dan and attended by Kwan Jang Nim John St. James and eight other Federation Masters and Master’s Candidates was a tremendous success.

Competitors demonstrated their best skills in four (4) different divisions. Competition included forms, weapons, sparring, and breaking. At the end of the competition, two competitors were crowned Grand Champions. The men’s Grand Champion was Mr. Trevor Becker, Sam Dan of Southbury Academy of Karate. The female Grand Champion was Ms. Sheri Clavet, Sam Dan of Meriden Academy of Martial Arts. However, the most special presentation of all was made to newly promoted Senior Master, Antonio Rivera, Jr. who received his O Dan.

The night before, twenty plus students tested to Cho, Ee, and Sam Dan. There was also a Leadership workout on Sunday morning with Kwan Jang Nim that started at 7 a.m. and ended at 9 a.m.. Masters and Master candidates learned and reviewed advanced bong sul, hyungs, and shil ki (practical application).

Congratulations to all who competed, tested, and participated…especially those behind the scenes…in a very rewarding, exciting, and special weekend. Tang Soo!!!
