2nd British Tang Soo Do Federation
Exposition Weekend
Contributed by Master
John Dove - 5th Dan
British Tang Soo Do Federation - Midlands Region
250 competitors
attended the first day of the Second British Tang
Soo Do Federation Exposition weekend covering the
24th and 25th of October. The midday line up
included sixteen Master grades who observed events
through to the 'on-time' conclusion of competitive
activities at five pm. The emphasis of the day was
on 'gathering' rather than merely competing. New
friendships were forged and old ones cemented.
We thank all of those practitioners who traveled to
support the event for their dedication to the art
and perpetuating traditional Tang Soo Do. During the
evening the BTSDF hosted a meal and meeting for the
'Heads of organizations' within the Tang Soo Do
Union along with invited guests. Agreements reached
during the meeting saw the Tang Soo Do Union grow to
over 3000 Members.
Day two of the Exposition weekend or 'Dan-Day' saw
Dan Members from all Regions supporting those who
were due to test through a grueling five hour hyung
review prior to the final testing hour. Information
gained by the BTSDF KoDanJa Members during their
recent training sessions with Kwan Jang Nim Ah Po in
Pittsburgh on the timing of hyung practice from the
Founder's latter years was disseminated during the
day. This augmentation aided unified practice by
heightening 'group' adherence'.
In addition, two individuals were inducted into our
Hall of Fame for 2009 - Master John Trudgill of
Traditional Tang Soo Do Federation and Master Ashok
Kumar of Traditional Tang Soo Do Association.
What a weekend - we look forward to welcoming you
next year on the 30 and 31st of October.
