and 1st Tang Soo Do World Cup

Federation
On
October weekend (17th -18th) in Puławy, Poland, was
held the Cheezic Tang Soo Do World Championship and
Tang Soo Do World Cup, hosted by Polish Tang Soo Do
Federation, a representative of Cheezic Tang Soo Do
Federation.
In attendance were four Grandmasters known all
around the world: Grandmaster Robert Cheezic, 10th
Dan and Grandmaster Dominick Giacobbe, 8th Dan from
United States, Grandmaster Edward Jacobsen, 8th Dan
from South Africa, and Grandmaster Mark Adlington
8th Dan from England.
On
Friday, October 16, Grandmaster Giacobbe conducted a
seminar on Tang Soo Do forms. The topic was a very
rare and old version of Bassai Sho Hyung. Master
Chamilothoris from Greece then conducted a
self-defense seminar on the use of short sticks.
Saturday's competition saw nearly 200 competitors
from three continents competing in seven individual
categories (traditional forms, modern forms, long
stick forms, weapon forms, special techniques,
breaking and sparring), three team categories
(synchronized forms, double match sparring and team
sparring) and Haedong Kumdo (forms and paper
cutting).
The Black Belt forms division was judged by
Grandmasters Robert Cheezic, Dominick Giocobbe,
Edward Jacobsen, Mark Adlington and Master
Christoforos Christodoulou, 5th Dan from Greece. It
is very rare to have such high ranking judges in one
ring and medalists should be very proud of
themselves.
Sunday's ceremonial decoration was conducted GM
Cheezic, GM Giacobbe, GM Jacobsen, Master
Christoforos Christodoulou, Master Konstantinos
Chamilothoris, Master Gregory Hart, Master Adam
Gorski, Anna Tarka from City Hall of Puławy and
Antoni Rękas the Director of the Civic Sport Centre
- Antoni Rękas.
At the end of the Championship on Sunday night, a
banquet was held for Masters, participants and
organizers of the tournament. I think that it is
very good for the integration of the Tang Soo Do
community when separate organizations can come
together and celebrate.
It was the help and cooperation of Puławy Town Hall
the President of Puławy Janusz Grobel, the
Vice-president of Ewa Wójcik and the Director of the
Civic Sport Centre in Puławy - Antoni Rekas, that
enabled our club to held the Championship here in
Puławy. We hope that all enjoyed their stay in
Poland and that you will want to visit us also in
future.
We
want to say thank you to all the teams for their
presence and support of the idea of a
cross-federation Championship and World Cup, and to
all who helped in organizing it. We hope that in the
future all of us will meet at the 2nd Tang Soo Do
World Cup. We want to hand over idea of continuation
of World Cup to other countries, at this moment,
however, we already know that in Poland will be held
next edition of this unique event, in two or three
years.
